Jellyfish in Aquarium

Artificial skin: can it be from jellyfish?

Millions of people have problems with skin cuts, burns, scars, and diseases. Artificial skin became one of the solutions for them. However, its current collagen sources are primarily humans and pigs, without considering jellyfish, whose collagen has antioxidant activity. Here, we present an artificial skin synthesis method using collagen from jellyfish.

Who are we?

We are a group of Imperial College London students competing in the Hackstarter competition. We are from the Department of Life Sciences, Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, Biomedical Technology Ventures. We aim to design artificial skin using collagen extracted from jellyfish.
